حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ يَعْنِي الْفَزَارِيَّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ فَأَتَاهُ قَوْمٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَغْرِبِ عَلَيْهِمْ ثِيَابُ الصُّوفِ فَوَافَقُوهُ عِنْدَ أَكَمَةٍ وَهُمْ قِيَامٌ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُمْت
ُ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ فَحَفِظْتُ مِنْهُ أَرْبَعَ كَلِمَاتٍ أَعُدُّهُنَّ فِي يَدِي قَالَ تَغْزُونَ جَزِيرَةَ الْعَرَبِ فَيَفْتَحُهَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ فَارِسَ فَيَفْتَحُهَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ الرُّومَ فَيَفْتَحُهَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ تَغْزُونَ الدَّجَّالَ فَيَفْتَحُهُ اللَّهُ قَالَ نَافِعٌ يَا جَابِرُ أَلَا تَرَى أَنَّ الدَّجَّالَ لَا يَخْرُجُ حَتَّى تُفْتَحَ الرُّومُ

English Translation
Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, Abū Isḥāq — meaning al-Fazārī — narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from Jābir ibn Samurah, from Nāfiʿ ibn ʿUtbah, who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an expedition. People came from the west wearing woolen clothes. They met him at a hillock while they were standing and he was sitting. I came and stood between them and him, and I memorized four statements from him, counting them on my hand. He said: "You will fight the Arabian Peninsula, and Allah will open it. Then you will fight Persia, and Allah will open it. Then you will fight the Romans, and Allah will open it. Then you will fight the Dajjāl, and Allah will open it." Nāfiʿ said: "O Jābir, do you not see that the Dajjāl will not emerge until the Romans are conquered?"
