English Translation
Rawḥ narrated to us, Zakariyyā ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, Ibrāhīm ibn Maysarah informed us that he heard ʿAmr ibn al-Sharīd say: al-Sharīd said: 'I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to me: "Do you have any of the poetry of Umayyah ibn Abī al-Ṣalt with you?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Recite to me." So I recited to him a verse, and he kept saying to me every time I recited a verse: "More!" until I had recited to him one hundred verses.' He said: 'Then the Prophet ﷺ fell silent, and I fell silent.'
