حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ كِنَانَةَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ أَنَّ جُلَيْبِيبًا كَانَ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ لِأَحَدِهِمْ أَيِّمٌ لَمْ يُزَوِّجْهَا حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَلِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا حَاجَةٌ أَمْ لَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ زَوِّجْنِي ابْنَتَكَ فَقَالَ نِعِمَّ وَنُعْمَةُ عَيْنٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنِّي لَسْتُ لِنَفْسِي أُرِيدُهَا قَالَ فَلِمَنْ قَالَ لِجُلَيْبِيبٍ قَالَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ أُمَّهَا فَأَتَاهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ ابْنَتَكِ قَالَتْ نِعِمَّ وَنُعْمَةُ عَيْنٍ زَوِّجْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ يُرِيدُهَا لِنَفْسِهِ قَالَتْ فَلِمَنْ قَالَ لِجُلَيْبِيبٍ قَالَتْ حَلْقَى أَجُلَيْبِيبٌ ابْنَهْ مَرَّتَيْنِ لَا لَعَمْرُ اللَّهِ لَا أُزَوِّجُ جُلَيْبِيبًا قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَامَ أَبُوهَا لِيَأْتِيَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ الْفَتَاةُ لِأُمِّهَا مِنْ خِدْرِهَا مَنْ خَطَبَن
ِي إِلَيْكُمَا قَالَتْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ فَتَرُدُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْرَهُ ادْفَعُونِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُضَيِّعُنِي فَأَتَى أَبُوهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ شَأْنَكَ بِهَا فَزَوَّجَهَا جُلَيْبِيبًا فَبَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَغْزًى لَهُ وَأَفَاءَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلْ تَفْقِدُونَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ قَالُوا نَفْقِدُ فُلَانًا وَنَفْقِدُ فُلَانًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ لَكِنِّي أَفْقِدُ جُلَيْبِيبًا فَانْظُرُوهُ فِي الْقَتْلَى فَنَظَرُوهُ فَوَجَدُوهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَبْعَةٍ قَدْ قَتَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ قَالَ فَوَقَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ قَتَلَ سَبْعَةً ثُمَّ قَتَلُوهُ هَذَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ ثُمَّ حَمَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى سَاعِدَيْهِ مَا لَهُ سَرِيرٌ غَيْرَ سَاعِدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى حُفِرَ لَهُ ثُمَّ وَضَعَهُ فِي لَحْدِهِ وَمَا ذَكَرَ غُسْلًا

English Translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us: Hammād ibn Salamah narrated to us: Thābit narrated to us, from Kinānah ibn Nu‘aym, from Abū Barzah, that Julaybib was from the Ansār, and whenever one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ had an unmarried woman, he would not give her in marriage until he knew whether the Prophet ﷺ had any need for her. So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said one day to a man from the Ansār: Give me your daughter in marriage. He said: Yes, with pleasure! the Prophet ﷺ said: I do not want her for myself. He asked: Then for whom? He said: For Julaybib. He said: Let me consult her mother. So he went to her and said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ is proposing for your daughter. She said: Yes, with pleasure! Marry her to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ! He said: He does not want her for himself. She asked: Then for whom? He said: For Julaybib. She exclaimed: Heavens! Julaybib?! No, by Allāh, I shall not marry Julaybib! When the father got up to go to the Prophet ﷺ, the young woman called out to her mother from behind her curtain: Who proposed for me to you? She said: the Prophet ﷺ. She said: Would you refuse the Prophet ﷺ in his request? Hand me over to the Prophet ﷺ, for he shall not let me be lost. So her father went to the Prophet ﷺ and said: She is yours. So he married her to Julaybib. Then while the Prophet ﷺ was on a military campaign, and Allāh — blessed and exalted is He — granted him victory, the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ asked: Do you find anyone missing? They said: We are missing so-and-so and so-and-so. the Prophet ﷺ said: But I am missing Julaybib. Search for him among the slain. They searched and found him beside seven whom he had killed before they killed him. the Prophet ﷺ stood over him and said: He killed seven, then they killed him. This one is from me and I am from him. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ carried him on his forearms — he had no bier other than the forearms of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ — until a grave was dug for him and he was placed in his niche. No mention was made of washing him.
