Hadith #161

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us: Sa‘īd narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Mutarrif ibn Abdillāh, who said: ‘Imrān ibn Husayn sent for me during his illness. I came to him and he said to me: I used to narrate hadiths to you; perhaps Allāh — blessed and exalted is He — will benefit you by them after me. Know that the angels used to greet me. If I survive, keep this secret for me. If I die, then narrate it if you wish. And know that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ combined Hajj and ‘Umrah, then no Book was revealed about it, and the Prophet ﷺ did not forbid it. A man expressed his opinion about it as he wished. Abd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Ma‘mar informed us, from Qatādah, from Mutarrif, who said: ‘Imrān ibn Husayn said to me — and he mentioned the same, adding: Do not narrate these two matters until I die.
