English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Qatādah, from al-Hasan, from ‘Imrān ibn Husayn, that a man from the Ansār freed six slaves at the time of his death, and he had no other property besides them. When this reached the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, he spoke harshly about it. Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ summoned them, drew lots among them, freed two, and returned four to slavery.
