English Translation
Sufyān ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Muhallab, from ‘Imrān ibn Husayn, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: There was a woman whom the enemy captured. They used to let their camels graze in the evening. She came to the camels seeking one to ride. Every time she approached a camel, it bellowed, so she left it, until she came to a camel that did not bellow. She mounted it and escaped. She arrived in Madinah, and when the people saw her, they said: The she-camel of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, al-‘Adbā’! She said: I vowed that if Allāh — mighty and majestic is He — saved me on her, I would slaughter her. He said: What a terrible way to repay her! There is no vow for the son of Ādam regarding what he does not own, nor any vow in disobedience to Allāh — mighty and majestic is He.
