حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَ أَبِي عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ حِينَ حُضِرَ فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ فِي أَقْصَى الدَّارِ قَالَ فَأَبْصَرْتُهُ فِي وَجْهِ قَتَادَ
ةَ قَالَ وَكُنْتُ إِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ كَأَنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ الدِّهَانَ قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ وَهُرَيْمٌ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from al-ʿAlāʼ ibn ʿUmayr who said: I was with Qaṭādah ibn Milḥān when he was at the point of death. A man passed in the farthest part of the house, and I could see him in the face of Qaṭādah — and whenever I saw him, it was as though his face had been anointed with oil [it shone so brightly]. And he [Qaṭādah] said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rubbed [his hand] over his face. [Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān (Aḥmad) said: Yaḥyā ibn Maʿiīn and Hurayim Abū Ḥamzah both narrated from Muʿtamir and mentioned its meaning.]
