حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُصَبِّحِ أَوْ أَبِي الْمُصَبِّحِ عَنِ ابْنِ السِّمْطِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ عَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ
عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ فَمَا تَحَوَّزَ لَهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِهِ فَقَالَ مَنْ شُهَدَاءُ أُمَّتِي قَالُوا قَتْلُ الْمُسْلِمِ شَهَادَةٌ قَالَ إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ قَتْلُ الْمُسْلِمِ شَهَادَةٌ وَالطَّاعُونُ شَهَادَةٌ وَالْبَطْنُ وَالْغَرَقُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ يَقْتُلُهَا وَلَدُهَا جَمْعَاءَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah and did not move aside from his bed for him. He ﷺ asked: 'Who are the martyrs of my nation?' They replied: 'Those killed in battle.' He ﷺ said: 'In that case the martyrs of my nation would be few. Dying in battle is martyrdom, plague is martyrdom, dying of a stomach ailment is martyrdom, drowning is martyrdom, and a woman who dies while pregnant is a martyr.'
