Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa al-Aslami, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ who participated in the pledge of Ridwan (Bay'at al-Ridwan) at al-Hudaybiyyah and accompanied the Prophet ﷺ in six or seven military campaigns. He was from the Aslam tribe and was known for his dedication to the Prophet ﷺ throughout the prophetic period. After the Prophet's ﷺ passing, he settled in Kufa, where he lived to an extraordinary age, eventually going blind in old age but continuing to transmit knowledge to the scholars of that city. He is considered one of the very last companions to die in Kufa, making him a uniquely precious source for the Kufan Tabi'in who came to learn from him. His survival into very old age means that he served as a direct link between the prophetic era and the early Umayyad period, transmitting narrations about prayer, the military campaigns, the Prophet's character, and many other topics. He passed away after 86 AH. His hadiths appear in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and all six major collections.
