Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from the tribe of Juhaynah and is specifically known as one of those who participated in the Pledge of Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH. He narrated hadiths on prayer, purification, financial transactions, and legal rulings — including the famous narrations on the rules for found property (luqata), which specify what a finder must do when discovering money or valuables left by an unknown owner. These rulings are foundational in Islamic commercial law. He also narrated hadiths on the virtue of standing in prayer on the night when rain falls and on the correct response to rain. He settled in Medina after the Prophet's death and later moved to Kufa, where he continued transmitting prophetic knowledge. He died around 68 AH. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and all four Sunan collections, and are cited extensively in chapters on found property, prayer, and testimony.
