Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, whose full name was Abd al-Rahman ibn Mall (or Mihl) al-Nahdi, was a senior Tabi'i scholar from Basra who reportedly lived to an extraordinary age — some accounts say he reached 130 years of age. He narrated from several companions of the Prophet ﷺ including Abu Musa al-Ashari, Salman al-Farsi, Umar ibn al-Khattab, and Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf. He was considered fully reliable (thiqah) by all hadith critics, and his long life allowed him to serve as a direct witness to the companion generation and then transmit that knowledge well into the Tabi'i era. He was based in Basra. He passed away around 95–100 AH.
