al-Bukhari al-Jurist (al-Zayla'i)

Jamal al-Din Abu Muhammad Abd Allah ibn Yusuf al-Zayla'i al-Hanafi was born in Zayla (modern Somalia/Ethiopia). He was one of the greatest Hanafi hadith scholars. His most famous work, Nasb al-Rayah li-Ahadith al-Hidayah, is a comprehensive collection of the hadith evidences cited in the Hanafi legal manual al-Hidayah, with critical analysis of each narration's authenticity. He also wrote a major commentary on the Kanz al-Daqa'iq. He died in Cairo in 762 AH and is buried there.
