Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq was a leading Tabi'i scholar of Medina and one of the seven great jurists of the city. He was the grandson of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), and after his father Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr died, he was raised under the guardianship of his aunt Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). This gave him unparalleled access to Aisha's knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ, and he became one of her most important transmitters. Scholars considered him among the most accurate narrators of Aisha's hadith corpus. He was known for his deep knowledge, his humility, and his strict adherence to the Sunnah. Imam Malik narrated from him extensively, and his narrations are found throughout the Muwatta and in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. He was one of the foundational figures in Medinan jurisprudence and his scholarly opinions carried great weight among his contemporaries and those who came after. He passed away around 107–108 AH in Medina.
