إسماعيل المزني
Imam
Ismail ibn Yahya al-Muzani (175–264 AH / 791–878 CE) was the foremost student of Imam al-Shafi'i and the principal transmitter of the Shafi'i madhab in Egypt. Al-Shafi'i himself said of him: 'Al-Muzani is the helper of my school.' His most important work, al-Mukhtasar (The Abridgement), became the foundation upon which later Shafi'i scholars built, serving as the primary teaching text of the school for generations. He lived in Egypt after al-Shafi'i's death, dedicating himself to teaching and preserving the madhab. Scholars traveled from across the Muslim world to study under him. He was renowned for his piety, precision in legal rulings, and depth of understanding of al-Shafi'i's methodology. His works include al-Mukhtasar, al-Jami' al-Kabir, and al-Masa'il al-Mu'tabarah.
