'Ala al-Din al-Samarqandi

'Ala al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Samarqandi al-Hanafi was one of the leading Hanafi jurists of Central Asia. He was the teacher of al-Kasani, who later married his daughter. His major work Tuhfat al-Fuqaha' is an important foundational text in Hanafi jurisprudence. He also wrote on usul al-fiqh and aqeedah. He died in Samarqand around 540 AH.
