الشاطبي
Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Musa ibn Muhammad al-Lakhmi al-Gharnati al-Shatibi (720–790 AH) was a Maliki scholar from Granada who wrote the most influential work on the theory of Maqasid al-Shariah (the higher objectives of Islamic law). His al-Muwafaqat fi Usul al-Shariah (Consonances in the Foundations of Islamic Law) systematically developed the theory that Islamic law has overarching objectives — the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth — and that rulings should be understood in light of these objectives. This theory has become foundational in modern Islamic legal theory. He also wrote al-I'tisam, a comprehensive work on bid'ah.
