الواقدي
Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi al-Aslami was one of the earliest Islamic historians. Born in Madinah, he settled in Baghdad under Abbasid patronage. His most important work, Kitab al-Maghazi (Book of Military Expeditions), is the earliest surviving comprehensive account of the Prophet's ﷺ military campaigns. Although hadith scholars were critical of his chain of narration methodology (some considering him weak in hadith), his historical works are invaluable to Islamic historiography. He also wrote Futuh al-Sham and other historical works. He died in Baghdad in 207 AH.
