Zayd ibn Arqam al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ from the Ansar of Medina who participated in seventeen military expeditions. He is renowned for his narration of the Hadith al-Thaqalayn — the Prophet's statement at the pond of Ghadir Khumm: 'I leave among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my household.' This narration, which emphasizes the importance of the Quran and the Prophet's family, is preserved in Sahih Muslim and the Sunan and has been the subject of extensive scholarly commentary. He also narrated the famous hadith on the signs distinguishing sincere du'a and the timing of accepted supplications. He transmitted many reports on theological questions, the merits of the Companions, and practical religious rulings. He settled in Kufa where he was held in high esteem, and continued to teach until late in life. He passed away around 65–68 AH. This entry is a variant spelling of the narrator also listed as Zaid bin Arqam.
