Anas ibn Malik (RA) (d. approximately 93 AH) was the personal servant of the Prophet ﷺ for approximately ten years, from the Hijra until the Prophet's ﷺ death, and one of the most prolific narrators of hadith in Islamic history. He was presented to the Prophet ﷺ by his mother Umm Sulaym (RA) when he was about ten years old, and the Prophet ﷺ made a famous supplication for him: 'O Allah, increase his wealth and his children, and bless him in what You give him.' Anas (RA) witnessed the Prophet ﷺ in virtually every aspect of daily life — in his home, in prayer, in travel, and in dealings with others — giving him an unparalleled perspective on the prophetic character and Sunnah. He narrated over 2,200 hadiths found in the canonical collections, covering a vast range of topics from prayer and fasting to manners, governance, and eschatology. After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, Anas (RA) participated in the early conquests and eventually settled in Basra, where he became the primary source of prophetic hadith for generations of Tabi'in scholars. His students included al-Hasan al-Basri, Muhammad ibn Sirin, Qatada ibn Di'ama, and dozens of others. He was the last surviving companion in Basra and reportedly lived to over one hundred years old. His narrations form a cornerstone of the entire hadith tradition.
