Aisha bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with her), referred to here as A'ishah (RAA), was the daughter of the first Caliph Abu Bakr, wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and one of the greatest scholars in Islamic history. She was born in Mecca and grew up in the Prophet's household in Medina, acquiring a depth of first-hand knowledge of the Prophet's life that no one else could match. She narrated over two thousand hadiths and is particularly authoritative on matters of the Prophet's private worship, household conduct, physical description, and personal manners. After the Prophet's death she was a primary teacher of the Companions and Tabi'in, issuing fatwas on a wide range of religious questions and correcting narrations she believed were inaccurate. She is regarded by Ahl us-Sunnah as one of the greatest Islamic scholars who ever lived. She passed away in Medina in 58 AH. This entry is a variant notation of Aisha bint Abi Bakr.
