Buraydah ibn al-Hasib al-Aslami (RA) was from the tribe of Aslam near Medina. When the Prophet ﷺ was traveling to Medina after the Hijra, Buraydah encountered him along the way. The encounter was so compelling that Buraydah and eighty members of his tribe embraced Islam on the spot. This mass conversion was a significant early success for Islam in the region around Medina. He participated in many military expeditions, including those to Khaybar and Mecca. After the Prophet's death he chose not to remain in Medina or the Hijaz but migrated eastward, eventually settling in Marw (Merv) in Khorasan — one of the farthest companions to settle from the Arabian heartland. He narrated approximately 165 hadiths on a range of topics including prayer, warfare, and the administration of justice. His narrations helped establish the Sunnah in the eastern provinces. He passed away in Khorasan around 62–63 AH.
