Anas ibn Malik al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ who served him personally for ten years in Medina, brought to that role by his mother Umm Sulaym when the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina after the Hijra. Anas was approximately ten years old at the time. The Prophet ﷺ made a special supplication for him: 'O Allah, give him wealth and children and bless him therein,' a supplication Anas later said was answered manifestly. He narrated over two thousand hadiths and is counted among the seven most prolific Companion narrators. His narrations provide an intimate record of the Prophet's daily conduct, worship, manners, and appearance. After the Prophet's death, he settled in Basra where he remained as a major scholarly authority for decades, becoming the last surviving Companion in that city. Thousands of students traveled to Basra to transmit hadiths from him. He lived to approximately ninety or more years of age, passing away around 91–93 AH. This entry is a variant listing of the same Companion.
