ابن قدامة المقدسي
Imam
Muwaffaq al-Din Abdullah ibn Qudama al-Maqdisi (541–620 AH / 1147–1223 CE) was the greatest Hanbali jurist of the 6th–7th century AH and one of the most important scholars in Islamic legal history. Born in Nablus (Palestine), his family migrated to Damascus where he spent his scholarly career. His al-Mughni is a ten-volume encyclopedic work of comparative Islamic law (fiqh al-muqarin), covering every area of Islamic law and comparing the Hanbali positions with those of other schools, with evidence from Quran, hadith, and scholarly consensus. It remains the most comprehensive work of comparative fiqh in the Islamic tradition. He also wrote al-Kafi, al-Muqni', Umdat al-Fiqh (a primer), and al-Rawdah al-Naziriyyah in theology.
