Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (Muhammad ibn Muslim ibn Shihab) — this entry represents the same Tabi'i scholar documented fully under entry 34, appearing here in Bukhari, Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi under the shortened name 'Ibn Shihab.' He was one of the most important figures in the history of hadith compilation, the teacher of Imam Malik and many others, and a narrator from numerous companions. He passed away around 124 AH. His chains appear in virtually every chapter of the major collections.
