Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion from the Khazraj tribe of Medina and one of the most prolific narrators among the Companions, transmitting approximately 1,540 hadiths. He was present at the Second Pledge of Aqabah and participated in many military campaigns. His father Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram was martyred at Uhud, and Jabir devoted himself to transmitting the Prophet's knowledge in his father's memory. His detailed account of the Farewell Pilgrimage is among the most comprehensive preserved records of the rites of Hajj, with precise descriptions of each action the Prophet ﷺ performed. He lived to an advanced age in Medina, losing his sight near the end of his life, and was considered the last surviving Companion in Medina. Major Tabi'in scholars including Ata ibn Abi Rabah and Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir traveled to him to transmit knowledge. This entry is a variant form of Jabir ibn Abdullah and refers to the same Companion. He passed away around 73–78 AH.
