Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid al-Nakha'i al-Kufi was a leading Tabi'i jurist and hadith scholar of Kufa and the uncle of the great scholar Ibrahim al-Nakha'i. He was among the most devoted students of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and accompanied him on at least one pilgrimage, memorizing his practice of Hajj in detail — a narration that became a primary reference for the rites of Hajj according to the Kufan tradition. He transmitted many traditions from Ibn Mas'ud and from other senior Tabi'in scholars of Kufa. His narrations are preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and the Sunan collections, particularly on matters of prayer and pilgrimage. He was considered thiqa (trustworthy) by the hadith critics and was recognized as one of the reliable authorities of the Kufan school. He represented the generation immediately following the Companions who preserved their practical knowledge and transmitted it faithfully. He passed away in Kufa around 83 AH.
