Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali (RA) was from the tribe of Bajila in Yemen and was known for his exceptionally handsome appearance — the companions described him as a man of striking dignity and beauty. The Prophet ﷺ reportedly said that his appearance reminded him of the prophets of the Children of Israel. He embraced Islam in 10 AH, shortly before the Prophet's death, and the Prophet ﷺ assigned him specific missions including the destruction of the idol Dhu al-Khalasa in Yemen — which Jarir accomplished successfully. He narrated approximately 116 hadiths. He settled in Kufa after the Prophet's death. He was present at some of the events of the civil strife but tried to maintain neutrality. He passed away around 51–54 AH, with some accounts placing him in al-Sarat in Yemen at his death.
