Al-Qasim in hadith chains most likely refers to al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, one of the seven great jurists of Medina and a leading Tabi'i scholar. He was raised in the household of his aunt Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) after his father died, giving him direct and intimate access to her vast prophetic knowledge. He became one of the most important transmitters of Aisha's hadith corpus and is regarded as one of the most accurate in preserving her narrations. Imam Malik narrated from him extensively in the Muwatta, and his chains are considered among the most reliable in the Medinan tradition. He was known for his profound piety, his humility, and his refusal to accept positions that would compromise his integrity. His legal opinions were highly authoritative. He passed away around 107–108 AH in Qudayd, near Medina, and is buried there. His narrations are found in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, the Muwatta, and all the major Sunan collections.
