Masruq ibn al-Ajda al-Hamdani al-Wada'i was a leading Tabi'i scholar of Kufa. He emigrated from Yemen to Kufa as a young man and became a devoted student of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA), from whom he acquired his primary knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah. He also narrated extensively from Aisha (RA), traveling to Medina specifically to learn from her and developing a close scholarly relationship with her. Other teachers included Umar ibn al-Khattab and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq. He was known for his exceptional piety, his night-long prayers, and his meticulous care in hadith narration. Imam al-Shafi'i and others praised him as one of the most reliable Tabi'i scholars. He was among the Seven Jurists of Kufa in some listings. His narrations appear throughout the major hadith collections and he is regarded as a fully trustworthy transmitter. He passed away around 62–63 AH.
