Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i

Founder of the Shafi'i school and father of Islamic legal theory (usul al-fiqh). Author of al-Risalah, the first systematic work on jurisprudence. Studied under Imam Malik and later became a teacher of Imam Ahmad.
