al-Nu'man ibn Bashir al-Ansari

Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir adalah salah satu yang youngest companions of Nabi ﷺ, lahir sekitar 2 AH. His father Bashir ibn Sa'd adalah seorang terkemuka Ansar companion. Al-Nu'man adalah brought to Nabi ﷺ as an infant. His most famous contribution to fikih Islam adalah riwayat ia menerima directly from ayahnya about a famous incident: Bashir wanted to give Nu'man a special gift that would favor him over his siblings. The Nabi said: 'Do you memiliki other children?' Bashir said yes. The Nabi said: 'Have you given them all the same gift?' No. The Nabi said: 'Then do not ask me to witness this, for I do not witness injustice.' Then he added the principle: 'The lawful adalah clear and the unlawful adalah clear, and between them adalah ambiguous matters...' — one of the foundational hadiths of fikih Islam (Nawawi's Forty Hadith, no. 6). Al-Nu'man served as governor of Kufah and then Homs under the Umayyah khalifahate. He adalah loyal to the Umayyahs and adalah killed in 65 AH during the unrest following Yazid's death.
