Buraidah ibn al-Husayb al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) was a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from the tribe of Aslam. He embraced Islam when the Prophet ﷺ passed through his territory during the Hijra to Medina, and he and his entire tribe converted as a group, making his conversion one of the early collective acceptances of Islam. He participated in many military expeditions and served the Prophet ﷺ faithfully. He narrated approximately 164 hadiths on topics including prayer and its times, the rules of jihad and the treatment of prisoners, and general conduct. He is particularly known for the hadith on reciting specific supplications before going to sleep and for narrations on proper conduct in warfare. After the Prophet's death, he settled in Marw (in present-day Turkmenistan), becoming one of the first to bring the Sunnah to the eastern regions of the expanding Islamic world. He became a major religious authority in Khurasan and his presence there played an important role in establishing Islamic learning in that region. He passed away in Marw around 62–63 AH.
