Yazid ibn Abi Ubaid al-Aslami was a Tabi'i scholar and the freed slave (mawla) of the companion Salama ibn al-Akwa', may Allah be pleased with him. He maintained a close relationship with Salama and was considered his most direct and prolific transmitter, preserving Salama's extensive body of narrations about the Prophet ﷺ for the following generation. Salama ibn al-Akwa' was a companion famous for his speed on foot, his bravery, and his participation in many military campaigns. Through Yazid, Salama's detailed narrations about the Prophet's expeditions, his personal bravery, the Prophet's ﷺ character in battle, and various rulings about prayer and fasting were transmitted to the Tabi'in. Yazid is considered a reliable and trustworthy narrator by hadith scholars, with no significant criticism noted against him. His narrations from Salama appear extensively in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and other major collections. He represents one of the important master-student relationships through which the prophetic Sunnah was preserved across generations in the Medinan scholarly tradition.
