Zayd ibn Arqam al-Ansari al-Khazraji, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet ﷺ who participated in seventeen military campaigns and was deeply devoted to the Prophet ﷺ. He is particularly known for two significant contributions to hadith literature. First, he is one of the primary narrators of the famous Hadith al-Thaqalayn (the hadith of the two weighty things), in which the Prophet ﷺ at Ghadir Khumm on his return from the Farewell Pilgrimage reminded the community of the Quran and his family (Ahl al-Bayt). Second, he narrated numerous reports about the Prophet's ﷺ household, his family, and the events of the early community. He settled in Kufa after the conquests and became a major source for prophetic traditions in Iraq. He was known for his faithfulness, his emotional connection to the memory of the Prophet ﷺ — he lost his sight late in life, reportedly from weeping — and his careful transmission. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and all the major Sunan collections. He passed away around 66 AH in Kufa.
