Zayd ibn Wahb al-Juhani was a distinguished Tabi'i scholar who set out from Yemen to meet the Prophet ﷺ in Medina but arrived after the Prophet ﷺ had passed away, thus falling into the category of those who traveled to meet him but missed him by a short time. Despite this, he became one of the most prominent students of the companions, forming a particularly close relationship with Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, and accompanying him throughout the period of the civil conflicts (fitna). He also narrated extensively from Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and other major companions. He was considered one of the most reliable and respected of the Kufan Tabi'in, with hadith scholars consistently praising his integrity and precision. His narrations cover theology, the fitna, eschatology, worship, and the prophetic character. They appear throughout Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and all major Sunan collections. He was particularly important as a transmitter of Ali's narrations and sermons to the scholars of Kufa. He died around 82–96 AH.
