Conversion of Ali ibn Abi Talib
إسلام علي بن أبي طالب
Ali ibn Abi Talib, the Prophet's young cousin who had been raised in his household, was among the very first to accept Islam. He was approximately ten years old at the time. When he came upon the Prophet and Khadijah praying together, he asked what they were doing. The Prophet invited him to believe in the One God and reject the idols. Ali asked for time to consult his father Abu Talib, but the next morning he returned and declared his faith, saying: 'Allah created me without consulting Abu Talib, so why should I consult Abu Talib in order to worship Allah?' Ali would go on to become the fourth Rightly Guided Caliph, the husband of Fatimah, and one of the greatest figures in Islamic history. He was the first child to accept Islam.
