Quraysh Plot to Assassinate the Prophet

As Muslims began migrating to Medina, the Quraysh convened at Dar al-Nadwah to decide the Prophet's fate. Abu Jahl proposed that one young man from each clan simultaneously strike the Prophet, distributing the blood-guilt so no single clan could be held responsible. Allah revealed their plot to the Prophet: 'And when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you' (8:30). The Prophet asked Ali to sleep in his bed as a decoy.
