حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ حَمَلَنِي أَبِي بَشِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اشْهَدْ أَنِّي قَدْ نَحَلْتُ النُّعْمَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا شَيْئًا سَمَّاهُ
قَالَ فَقَالَ أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَ مِثْلَ الَّذِي نَحَلْتَ النُّعْمَانَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَأَشْهِدْ غَيْرِي ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَسُرُّكَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا إِلَيْكَ فِي الْبِرِّ سَوَاءً قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا

English Translation
Hushaym narrated to us: Sayyār and Mughīrah informed us, from al-Shaʿbī, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه who said: His father took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'Bear witness that I have given al-Nuʿmān such-and-such.' He said: 'Have you given all your children the like of what you have given al-Nuʿmān?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then bear witness to this from someone other than me, for I do not bear witness to injustice.'
