English Translation

Ḥasan ibn Mūsā narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Dāwūd, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlqamah: that a man married a woman, then her husband died before consummating the marriage, and he had not named a dowry for her. ʿAbdullāh was asked about her, and he said: 'She receives the dowry of one of her peers — no less and no excess — she inherits, and she must observe the waiting period.' Abū Sinān al-Ashjaʿī stood among a group from Ashjaʿ and they said: 'We testify that you have judged with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding Birwaʿ bint Wāshiq.' ʿAbdullāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us — and ʿAbdullāh said: and Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us — who said: Ibn Abī Zāʾidah narrated to us, from Dāwūd, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlqamah, with this same narration.
