His masters came and Sa'd said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared this place sacred, and I heard him say: Whoever catches anyone hunting in it, let him strip him [of his clothes].' So I will not return to you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted me as spoils.'

It was narrated from Sa'd who (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i passed by Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه) in the mosque and greeted him. He looked at me fully but did not return the greeting. So I went to Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) and said: 'O Commander of the Believers, has something happened in Islam?' He said: 'No. Why do you ask?' I said: 'I passed by Uthman and greeted him, but he did not return the greeting.' Umar sent for Uthman and asked him, and Uthman said: 'I did not do that.' Sa'd said: 'Yes, you did.' Until they swore oaths. Then Uthman remembered and said: 'Yes, I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him. You passed by me while I was speaking to myself about something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, I did not intend to ignore you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: I will teach you words that if you say them, Allah will forgive you — or he said: will forgive your sins: There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'

It was narrated from Sa'd (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'I fell ill in Makkah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me. I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have left behind wealth and I have no heir except a single daughter. Shall I bequeath two-thirds of my wealth? He said: No. I said: Then half? He said: No. I said: Then a third? He said: A third, and a third is much. For you to leave your heirs wealthy is better than to leave them poor, begging from people.
