سهيل بن عمرو
Suhayl ibn Amr adalah salah satu yang terdepan orators and negotiators of Quraysh. He adalah sent by Quraysh to negotiate with Nabi ﷺ at Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH, where he played a central role in drafting the controversial treaty. At the time of the treaty, Umar ibn al-Khattab adalah angry at the terms and later asked Nabi ﷺ if he could memiliki Suhayl's two front teeth pulled out so he could never give another speech against Islam. The Nabi refused. At the Conquest of Makkah (8 AH), Suhayl embraced Islam. After Nabi ﷺ's death, when news of his passing reached Makkah, Suhayl gave a sermon to the people of Makkah urging them to remain firm in Islam and not to apostatize — a sermon whose eloquence and passion helped Makkah remain Muslim during the Riddah periode. This impressed Umar greatly, who recalled his earlier desire to pull out Suhayl's teeth and reflected on how Allah memiliki guided this very tongue to defend Islam. Suhayl participated in the conquests of Suriah and wafat di 18 AH during the plague of Amwas.
