Umm Salamah Hind bint Abi Umayya al-Makhzumiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was a wife of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the Mothers of the Believers, notable for her exceptional wisdom, strong character, and religious scholarship. She was among the earliest Muslims and was among those who emigrated first to Abyssinia and then to Medina, enduring great hardship for her faith. After the death of her first husband Abu Salamah, she married the Prophet ﷺ. She was known for her sound judgment — it was she who suggested to the Prophet ﷺ during the difficulty at Hudaybiyyah that he perform his sacrifice first without waiting for the Companions, which he did, and the Companions followed. She narrated approximately 378 hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ covering prayer, fasting, women's matters, the Prophet's physical description, and prophetic supplications. She passed away in Medina around 59–62 AH. This entry is a variant listing of the Companion Umm Salamah.
