A'ishah bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with her, was the beloved wife of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the greatest scholars in all of Islamic history. She was the daughter of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, the closest companion and first caliph. She married the Prophet ﷺ and lived in the prophetic household, giving her intimate knowledge of his ﷺ private life, manners, worship, and daily conduct that no other narrator could match. She is the third-highest transmitter of hadith among all companions, narrating over 2,200 hadiths recorded in all major collections. She was a polymath: a leading authority in hadith, fiqh, Quranic exegesis, Arabic poetry and literature, and medicine. Companions and scholars of the Tabi'in generation would travel to Medina specifically to learn from her. She corrected misunderstandings among the companions on numerous occasions, and her rulings on family law, prayer, and matters exclusive to women are relied upon in all four madhabs. She lived approximately 66 years and spent nearly 47 years after the Prophet's ﷺ passing as a teacher, issuing fatwas, and transmitting knowledge. She passed away in 58 AH in Medina. Her narrations are central to every collection of hadith.
