Amr ibn al-Harith, may Allah be pleased with him, was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and a brother-in-law of the Prophet through his wife Juwayriyah bint al-Harith, whom the Prophet married after the campaign against the Banu al-Mustaliq. This family connection gave Amr a close relationship with the Prophet's household. He is known for narrating one of the most striking hadiths about the Prophet's detachment from worldly wealth: after the Prophet's death, Amr reported that the Prophet ﷺ left behind nothing except a white mule he used for riding, his weapons, and a piece of land which he had declared as charitable endowment for the benefit of travelers and the needy. This narration is widely cited in discussions of the Prophet's asceticism and his model of governance. It stands as a profound testimony to the Prophet's complete lack of personal accumulation despite having led a state for years. His narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim and are particularly valuable as evidence of the Prophet's personal example in renouncing the world.
