Awn ibn Abi Juhayfah was a Tabi'i narrator and the son of the companion Abu Juhayfah Wahb ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him. He transmitted hadiths from his father and preserved several important narrations, including the famous description of the Prophet's physical appearance narrated by his father. Abu Juhayfah's description — preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari — is among the most detailed accounts of the Prophet's appearance and includes descriptions of his hair, the mark of prophethood on his back, and his complexion. Awn narrated this and other hadiths on prayer, the Prophet's worship, and his general practice. He was a reliable Tabi'i transmitter from Kufa whose narrations appear in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. As the son of a companion who had direct personal contact with the Prophet ﷺ, he occupied an important position in the chain of transmission — standing two links from the Prophet — and his narrations are valued for their directness. Hadith scholars regarded him as trustworthy, and his reports are cited in various chapters of Islamic jurisprudence.
