Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) was a prominent Companion of the Prophet ﷺ renowned for his political intelligence, diplomatic skill, and astute judgment. He embraced Islam around 5–6 AH, before the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and participated in major campaigns including the Conquest of Mecca and the Battle of Hunayn. He later served as governor of Basra under Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab and of Kufa under Uthman and Muawiya. He narrated approximately 136 hadiths on topics including the wiping over footwear in ablution, the funeral prayer, and various aspects of the Prophet's worship. He was known for using his diplomatic intelligence to open negotiations before battle during the Islamic conquests and was sent on several important missions. His narrations include detailed accounts of the Prophet's prayer practice and personal conduct that became reference points in legal discussions. He passed away in Kufa around 50 AH. This entry refers to the same Companion listed elsewhere as Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba.
