Salim ibn Abdullah ibn Umar was a leading Tabi'i scholar of Medina and the son of the companion Abdullah ibn Umar (RA). He is counted among the Seven Jurists of Medina and was considered by his contemporaries as one of the most knowledgeable and reliable scholars of the Medinan tradition. He was the principal transmitter of his father's narrations and his chain — Salim from his father Ibn Umar — is one of the most consistently cited and trusted chains in all of hadith literature. Imam Malik relied heavily on his narrations in al-Muwatta. He was known for his personal piety, his refusal to accept gifts from rulers, and his strict adherence to his father's model of the Sunnah. He was particularly knowledgeable on matters of pilgrimage, prayer, and family law. He passed away in Medina around 106 AH.
