This entry refers to a hadith narrated jointly by two figures: al-Miswar ibn Makhrama (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ, and Marwan ibn al-Hakam, an Umayyad official. Al-Miswar ibn Makhrama was the nephew of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf and was born two years before the Hijra; he witnessed many events of the prophetic era and narrated important hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ including details of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Marwan ibn al-Hakam was a prominent Umayyad figure who served as governor of Medina. Their joint transmission of the narration about the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah is one of the most detailed accounts of that treaty in the hadith literature, preserved in Sahih al-Bukhari. The combination of the two narrators — one a direct Companion witness, the other providing additional context — produced one of the richest accounts of that pivotal historical event.
