Conversion of Talhah ibn Ubaydullah
إسلام طلحة بن عبيد الله
Talhah ibn Ubaydullah of Banu Taym accepted Islam through Abu Bakr's invitation. While on a trading journey to Busra in Syria, a monk told him that the final prophet was about to appear in Mecca. Upon returning, he found that Muhammad had begun his mission. Abu Bakr then brought him to the Prophet, and Talhah embraced Islam immediately. His clansman Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid, known as the lion of Quraysh, tied Talhah and Abu Bakr together with a rope and tortured them, yet they refused to recant. Talhah became famous for his extraordinary bravery at the Battle of Uhud, where he shielded the Prophet with his own body, sustaining over seventy wounds. The Prophet called him 'the generous Talhah' and 'the living martyr.' He was among the ten promised Paradise.
