Teaching of Hajj Rituals During the Farewell Pilgrimage
تعليم مناسك الحج في حجة الوداع
During the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet meticulously demonstrated every ritual of the pilgrimage, saying: 'Take your rituals from me, for I may not perform Hajj after this year.' On the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah (Yawm al-Tarwiyah), he proceeded to Mina and prayed the shortened prayers. On the 9th, he went to Arafat, combined Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and stood in supplication until sunset. After sunset, he moved to Muzdalifah, combined Maghrib and Isha prayers, and slept until Fajr. After Fajr, he went to the Mash'ar al-Haram to supplicate, then proceeded to Mina before sunrise. On the 10th (Yawm al-Nahr), he threw seven pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqabah, slaughtered his sacrifice (one hundred camels), shaved his head, performed Tawaf al-Ifadah, and drank Zamzam water. He resolved many questions about the order of rituals, repeatedly saying: 'Do it, there is no harm.' He stayed in Mina for the days of Tashriq, throwing pebbles at the three Jamarat each day after Dhuhr. The Hajj became fully codified through his practice.
